The alchemist codex

Logline: Inheriting an ancient alchemist codex with the recipe of the life elixir and of wealth does not necessarily mean that you will survive.

The ancient crown of a nation and an alchemist recipe are necessary for preparing the elixir of wealth and eternal life. They are ready to do whatever it takes to get it, unless love and faith stand in their way.

Synopsis: Some seekers of a relic of magic power, an ancient European crown lose their lives in a collapse in the course of their archeological work. The survivors blame Peter, the caver for the catastrophe. Sophia, the daughter of Professor Szilágyi, the deceased leader of the quest is the sole heiress. When it turns out that the case was not an accident but an assassination, she becomes the prime suspect and she is arrested. The last will warns that the evil ancient dragon has come down to earth. Sophia has no choice but to ask Peter for help so that she can try to continue her father’s work deservedly and to find out who killed her father.

As Peter fancies the girl, he undertakes the apparently easy job, but he fails before long. He gets robbed of the map showing the way to Sophi’s inheritance and with it the golden treasure, too. By the time Elemér, a lawyer and a friend of her father’s brings the girl out of the lockup, further investigation seems to have no chance. No matter that Peter and Sophi fell out with each other, their iterdependance fosters their relationship. Peter wants the girl, while Sophi sets out to find the mysterious enemy, the dragon.

They don’t suspect that the emerging clue lures them into a trap; the medieval castle of Léka, where the third survivor, Sarkadi captures Sophi. Although Peter manages to
set her free, they find themselves in the death.trap of an underground labyrinth. Amidst their endeavours they warm to each other, they escape and they are even offered insider help in the person of Reverend Gábor. Sophi gets the professor’s diary from the Reverend, and they can find the medieval alchemist codex, which provides an explanation for several unsolved mysteries of history and turns out to be a real magical recipe. However, they are forced to flee as Peter and Sophi are wanted by the police for commiting an even more serious crime; the invaluable relic of the Hungarian nation, the Holy Crown has got stolen. Sophi acts as a deputy for her father at the most important scientific symposium and she presents the alchemist codex.
Fist Isabella, her mother, who has been thought to be mad, then the police show up. They manage to slip away, Isabella helps them across the border. But our heroes fall into the trap of Isabella and her accomplice, Sarkadi, so the infernal seance can start. Sophi’s father was murdered for the recipei of the alchemist codex by Sarkadi and Isabella. They enthrone Isabella with the Holy Crown so that by means of the the magic of alchemy, the royal marriage, they can obtain the Philosopher’s Stone, the elixir of eternal life; the Red Lion!

Yet Peter breaks away, as he is aware that even at the expense of being thought to be a traitor by his love, that is the only chance to save his sweetheart’s life, not to mention the invaluable Crown and the alchemist codex.. The return of the helper Reverend Gábor and Peter is not enough against the evil. They are all deemed to fail, and in the final sacral act Sophi is going to be sacrified. However at the last moment Elemér, the girls real father, who betrayed them all the time, turns against the evil and ruins the ceremony. Sarkadi dies, Isabella disappears with the crown in the chaos.

There is no way out of the burning tower, Isabella, Sophi and Peter get stuck on the roof of the tower. They can only escape by a seemingly suicidal action. Isabella is confronted by Elemér, her daughter’s real father. She pursues inveterate hatred because she has been ruined. Sarkadi had rescued him from the mental hospital. She wants to take revenge on Sophi, who turned against her, and when she falls into the hands of the police at last, she pulls a gun. This time Sophi’s life can only be saved by Reverend Gábor’s self-sacrifice. Peter disarms Isabella, the Reverend dies, but Sophi, the crown and the codex are rescued.
