Tommy Jackson (27, rough working class charm) once had a life. The memory tortures him. As he shares a joke with his wife and daughter, a joy rider smashes into his car, killing his family, smashing his world to pieces. Tommy now drifts aimlessly through the strange, empty northern flatlands in the one piece of his former life that he can rebuild; his classic Ford Capri.

One night in the flatlands, after a death ride calculated to end it all, Tommy discovers he has strayed into an abandoned US Air Force base where he is confronted by the ’Sheriff’, a powerful, enigmatic man in his 40s, replete with cowboy hat, American drawl, and ferocious Dodge Charger. With his omnipresent CCTV, the Sheriff holds the remote hamlet of Hades Bridge in his thrall. He introduces Tommy to the beautiful, intriguing Mrs Hana Wilding and her silent daughter, Viola, who remind him of his own dead family. When Hana makes a secret plea to Tommy for help, right under the Sheriff’s watchful eye, he is unnerved but totally hooked.

Tommy experiences an erotic yet disturbing encounter with Hana that stirs his dormant soul and is soon ensnared in a dangerous ritual sex game in which he plays the role of Hana’s conveniently absent husband. Hana’s dangerous seduction offers Tommy the annihilation he desires and ironically brings him back to life. But Hana is hiding dark secrets.

Tommy figures that the Sheriff killed Dr Wilding and that Hana is being held in Hades Bridge against her will, only to be devastated by the discovery that Hana, it seems, is a cold-hearted killer. She is in on the deal with the Sheriff and Tommy is lined up to be her next ritual victim.

In a tense showdown, Tommy risks his own, Hana and Viola’s lives to outwit and kill the malevolent Sheriff, demonstrating a different kind of strength and proving that he is a man Hana can trust. But Hana has one more twist up her sleeve. Perhaps Tommy has misjudged her after all. In the final end game, Tommy discovers what it truly means to be alive…
