Biography
Mitko Panov studied Directing at the Polish National School for Film, TV & Theatre in Lodz. For his films he received a number of international awards among which the Golden Palm for best short film at Cannes 1991. His works were aired on major television networks including : Canal +, France 3, Channel 4, ARTE, ZDF, PBS, ARD/BR, 3 Sat, B-92, Arts & Entertainment etc.
Panov taught directing at the New York University Graduate Film Department, The German State School for Film and TV in Munich (H.F.F. ), the University of Texas at Austin and is a funding member of the New York Film Academy. Over the past decade and a half he has taught a whole new generation of film makers that have gone on to win prestigious festival prizes, six Academy Awards, and has become key players directing both major studio blockbusters and indie hits like Maria Full of Grace, Along Came Polly, Hunger, and La Ciudad to name a few.
Panov’s screen-writing credits include The Miracle Salesman, a Polish-Swedish co-production released in 2009 and Witness ( aka The End of Violence ) a winner of screenplay awards at the European Pitch Point in Hungary, 2007 and the Honorary Kieszlowsky Award at ScripTeast workshop, Cannes 2008. “The excellent script, which successfully combines elements of an entertaining and tense thriller with a profound sense of the political and social consequences of the war in the former Yugoslavia.” Panov also worked as a co-writer of ‘Fault-lines’, a six piece dramatic series for HBO television, developed by Grenada Entertainment.
He is recipient of a number of grants and fellowships including the Sundance Documentary Film Grant, the Rockefeller Fellowship and the Guggenheim Fellowship for distinguished artists and scholars.

2004-05 Miracle Seller. Original screenplay. Drama. A story about two Checzen refugee-siblings and their journey through Europe in the search for their father. Produced by Fabryka, Warsaw. Developed through Media Pus, financed by the Polish Film Fund and Polish TV. Released in fall 2009.
2001-02 Faultlines. Co-writer. A six piece miniseries developed for HBO by Granada Entertainment, LA.
